Day 11 -

Day 11 – Friday, July 28, 2017

AGE: 1 week, 4 days (26 weeks, 1 day gestation)

Lochlan: Weight isoz. (Birth weight: 1 lb 10.8 oz.)
Length  in. (Birth Length 13 in.)
Lex:        Weight is oz. (Birth weight: 1 lb 10.8 oz.)
Length is  in. (Birth length: 13 in.)

Both babies eyes have been fused shut, but today Lochlan was desperately trying to open his eyes. He would crinkle his eyebrows desperately when either Kyle or I would talk. I bet it will only be a couple more days before we see him or Lex’s eyes. Lochlan was pretty feisty during care time today. He didn’t want to be messed with. I love to see a little fight.

I was able to do kangaroo care with Lochlan for a little over an hour. He had a little spit up which they are keeping an eye on. A cranial ultrasound showed that the bleed as not advanced and may even reduced a bit, but there is a little increased pressure.

Lex’s PDA is still very large, arteries are getting larger which means the heart is strained. The doctors are still deciding which therapy to try. They will likely try a round ibuprofen, but could possibly go straight to surgery.

Big sister, Poppy, came to the hospital for the first time. Because the twins are so fragile, we decided to keep her in the waiting room. She calls the hospital the “hop-i-tall” and knows that the doctors are taking care of her little brothers.
