Day 96 - Carseat Test
10/21/17 Day 96 of Life
.
Lochlan had consistently taken all of his feeds by mouth and he was only on ¼ liter oxygen. This meant that the only thing standing between discharge was the car seat challenge.
.
Babies born before 37 weeks must be able to sit in a car seat for 90-120 minutes without it effecting their breathing. Once the nurses can see that the baby’s breathing is not slowed and that oxygen intake is not decreased, then baby passes the test.
.
The car seat test was to happen during the night. At the NICU, I visited my twins and kissed them goodnight knowing that come morning, we may be headed to the hospital to bring Lochlan home for the very first time.
