.
Watching my husband hold his twins together for the first time was, for lack of better work, memorable...?

.

Holding my twins at the same time was undoubtedly the best moment of my life (tied with two others). Ever since they had been moved into the same room and could be held tandemly, I kept pressing my husband to hold them together so he too could have the same heart exploding experience. The day had finally come and I could hardly wait to watch this beautiful moment unfold...

.

He got scrubbed in, changed his clothes and was ready for this milestone. I was so excited. Would he cry? Smile uncontrollable? Or be giddy like I was?  The nurse got him set up and delivered each baby into his arms. All three of my boys snuggled in. He love it for the first 3 minutes anyway…

.

As much as I would like to tell you that this was as moving of a moment for my husband as it had been for me, it fell short.  Minutes into the hold, I could see my husband getting a bit uncomfortable. The hospital chairs will make you butt go numb so I thought maybe that’s what was happening. As time went on he continued to squirm more.

.

Maybe 10 minutes into this hold he looked and me with a dumb founded  look  and said “I’m sweating, how long do I have to do this?”

.

I laughed! Turns out we have different favorite moments and that is perfectly perfect.

The boys are doing well and I am pleased to share a nice, boring update for their 10 week birthday. At this age, we don’t have to be as quiet or sensitive with light which means we can hold more freely. Kyle got to hold both his boys at the same time which was very special. Both boys are becoming more alert and curious about their surroundings.

For respiratory, nothing has changed over the past week on their CPAP settings which means we aren’t going backwards. At this point, they just need time to get stronger so we can start chipping away at the respiratory settings. Both boys are on track to join the 5 lb club in the next few days. Lochlan had a cranial ultrasound today that showed the shunt is continuing to do its job. The pediatric neurosurgeon is happy with its placement and progress. And a happy pediatric neurosurgeon equals a happy mother.
